CACHIA MAINTAINS FOCUS AND EXTENDS CHAMPIONSHIP LEAD IN RAYMOND TERRACE

Up and coming motocross dynamo Josh Cachia has tightened his stranglehold on the 2011 Under 19’s MX National crown, with a win in Raymond Terrace NSW last weekend.

Born and raised in Kilmore, Victoria, Cachia now resides in a small ocean side town called Carpenters Rocks in South Australia. This remote setting he believes allows him to maintain his focus on winning his first senior national championship.

“When I get up in the morning, I go outside and look at the ocean, then put my gear on and ride or train all day. I love it out here. My fitness and riding has improved so much; it just gives me so much more motivation for race day.” Josh Cachia said.

Cachia proved in Raymond Terrace its not just his blistering speed that has put him in control so far in 2010, but his newfound maturity also. The 18 year old withstood immense pressure in all three races on route to winning the first and third motos of the day and carding a second in the second moto; pipped at the post by Tasmanian Ross Beaton.

“I could feel Ross (Beaton) was catching me and he was riding a little quicker in some parts of the track, but I just focused on what I was doing and riding as fast as I could. When he past me in moto two, I just maintained my pace and settled for second. I know sometimes I’ll have to settle for second if I want to win the championship.” Cachia said.

Consistent results have been the key to Cachia’s success to date, finishing no worse than fifth in any of the 12 motos held so far. He maintains a 33 point lead over Ross Beaton, however there is still a long way to go.

“There’s still a long way to go, with lots of points still up for grabs. I’m just going to keep doing what I’m doing and work on winning as many races as I can. The rest will work out for itself!”
