JOSH CACHIA EXTENDS CHAMPIONSHIP LEAD IN CANBERRA
17 year old Victorian Motocross up and comer Josh Cachia has continued his strong start to 2010 by extending his points lead in the Under 19 Australian Motocross Championship on Sunday in Canberra, finishing in third place overall for the day.
Cachia began the day just the way he wanted, easily qualifying fastest aboard his Coastal KTM 250 SXF. When racing got underway however, he struggled with uncharacteristic average starts in three of the four six lap race ‘sprint’ races. Cachia’s detirmined, never say die riding style saw him fight back to finish no worse than fifth in all four races and take an emphatic win over his rivals in race two.
Hard fought consistent results in Canberra, meant at the end of the day Cachia’s championship lead would extend to 19 points over Tasmanian Ross Beaton. He finished third overall for the day behind New Zealander Cameron Dillon and South Australian rider Luke Arbon.
“Today was a tough day. I made a lot more work for myself by getting some bad starts and I thought getting a 5 second penalty in race three was a bit harsh; but that’s racing. I rode as hard as I could, but I know consistency is what is going to win the championship so that’s what I’m aiming for.” Josh Cachia said.
