JOSH CACHIA OFF TO A FLYING START IN ROCKSTAR MX NATIONALS
Josh Cachia has launched his 2010 season campaign in spectacular fashion, with an overall win at round one of the Rockstar MX Nationals in Horsham, Victoria on Sunday.
17 year old Cachia began the day exactly the way he had planned, qualifying fastest on his Coastal KTM, KTM 250SXF. From there he continued to stamp his authority taking comfortable wins in both the first and second motos of the Under 19’s National Championship.
As the day progressed, conditions in Horsham deteriorated significantly; with the rain falling steadily from lunch time onwards. Despite the slippery conditions Cachia still proved he would be a man to beat in 2010 by recovering from a first turn crash in race three, to pass over 20 riders in the first lap and after a hard fought 15 minutes eventually move into a respectable sixth place out of 40.
"I have been working really hard to make sure I was ready to race today; I feel really strong. As soon as I woke up this morning I knew today could be my day.” Josh Cachia said.
In his first season competing for the Coastal KTM Team, Cachia looked extremely smooth and in control; a product of strong pre season training and hours of testing with his team and mechanic.
“Everything just felt like it was working so well out there. My bike handled perfectly; I never felt out of control even when the track became really rough. I really like to thank my mechanic, my team and everyone involved in making today possible.” Cachia said.
After finishing a respectable third in the 2009 Championship, Cachia went on to achieve some strong results in the Australasian Super X Series in the Pro Lite Class. Round two of the 2010 Rockstar MX Nationals kicks off in Canberra, ACT on April 18.
